Buz Coming to Positive Vibe
From Style Weekly:
Positive Vibe Café brings in the New Year with guest chef Buz Grossberg of Buz and Ned’s Real Barbecue on Jan. 17. The self-described porktologist will serve a salad of pit-roasted beets with spinach, grilled oranges and goat cheese, poached oyster stew, barbecued quail, apricot rice, beef brisket with garlic mashed potatoes and collard greens. Dessert is stuffed bourbon apples with caramel sauce and ice cream. The regular menu is available also. Then, the café celebrates its fifth anniversary with a music party Jan. 23.
Interesting choice to go with brisket. I am a big fan of Buz and Ned’s food and often take out of town guests but I don’t think he does the best brisket in town. Best brisket in town goes to either Alamo on Church Hill or Halligan’s in Shockoe Bottom.

Positive Vibe Mention in Style Weekly
From Short Order at Style Weekly:
Positive Vibe Café: Dearly departed Richmond musician Gary Gerloff gave one last gift to the business he fondly called the “Positive Vice” May 27: The party after his funeral at the café jammed the place on what would have otherwise been a slow Wednesday night, introducing many to the business that Gerloff found enduringly endearing. His support of the café’s training mission included volunteer appearances by the Gary Gerloff Band at the annual fundraiser Vibefest and other events. Many folks in the crowd found new reasons to frequent the Stratford Hills business in honor of their beneficent and fun-loving old pal.

MarketVibe Chefs Challenge
At tomorrow’s rendition of the South of the James Market, 4th District Council representative Kathy Graziano and her culinary-minded sons will compete against a team of chefs from Positive Vibe Cafe in the MarketVibe Chefs Challenge. Like something straight out of Top Chef, the teams will purchase all items from the market offerings and prepare a variety of dishes using small appliances, grills and the like. Graziano told the T-D:
We originally thought of this as a way to get people to come to the park, and it’s also a good way to show people what they can do with fresh stuff…It should be fun. We should raise a lot of money for a good cause and get even more people to come to the market.”
