Capoeira Resistencia this Sunday at FH Park
Music in the Park this Sunday from 6pm – 8pm (after Sunday in the Park with Friends ) goes Brazilian with the group Capoeira Resistencia !!!
Capoeira (Portuguese pronunciation: [ka?pwej??]) is an Afro-Brazilian art form that combines elements of martial arts, music, and dance. It was created in Brazil by slaves from Africa, sometime after the sixteenth century. Participants form a roda, or circle, and take turns either playing musical instruments (such as the Berimbau), singing, or ritually sparring in pairs in the center of the circle. (source: wikipedia)
Capoeira Resistencia consist of a Brazilian percussion ensemble and will have a full dance troupe as well. This should be fascinating for grownups and kids too.
As usual, bring four friends and a picnic. Music in Forest Hill Park is sponsored by the Forest Hill, Westover Hills and Woodland Heights Neighborhood Associations, City of Richmond Parks and Recreation, and a wonderful handful of local businesses.

All the groups playing have at least one member who lives in the neighborhood. The following businesses also have contributed to Music in the Park: Cielito Lindo, Dominion Heating and Air Conditioning, Crossroads Coffee, 43rd Street Gallery, True Timber, and Riverside Outfitters.
