I was clued in by someone in the know that this is a must see show and judging from the song above I tend to agree. This trio has shared the stage with Taj Mahal, Ricky Scaggs, and the Carolina Chocolate Drops. So swing by Crossroads on Thursday, show starts at 8 pm.
Good weather + Good Music + Good Beer = Great Friday night. I’ll be there and so should you.
The Third Wave is a local surf rock band and they are playing for free this Sunday from 6pm – 8pm as part of the ongoing Music in the Park series. Always a great time to catch up with neighbors and enjoy the park. The last two band in the series will be Blue Line Hwy – [...]
I hear that there is a little music festival on Brown’s Island this weekend called Shadrock but we on the Southbank give away our music for free throughout the summer. Music in the Park takes place at Forest Hill Park and the schedule has been released so get out the calendar and mark the dates.
My favorite local band with a bearded accordion player, Happy Lucky Combo, has a new CD out and is available exclusively at Crossroads for $5. Guest musicians include Antonia Fd, John Winn, Emily Avesian, Stevie Ray, Robert J. Jacobs and Paul Watson. Support local music and great guys by buying a CD.
Repost of Crossroads – Brian Jones “Redhead” by Aaron Williams published on RVANews earlier today. A few weeks ago, Selba was the center of attention for their ever expanding lineup of jazz. This week, Crossroads is the focus. Crossroads has been hosting live music for a long time, but recently their lineup has had some of the best [...]
If an exciting story breaks Friday night, Saturday or Sunday, if I can’t see it from the Richmond Folk Festival grounds it won’t be covered for a bit.
This Sunday from 5-7 p.m. will be the final Music in the Park of the Season. By popular demand we have the Faculty Lounge Lizards – the pride and joy of Maggie Walker Governor’s School.
This year the Richmond Jazz Festival * spans over 4 days with performances popping up all over town. It comes to our neck of the woods at Maymont August 13th and 14th. With 2 stages full of jazz and R&B this promises to be a hoppin’ event. Click through to see a schedule of artists. [...]
The first Music in the Park kicks off at 6 p.m. with No BS Brass Band. Get out there and support this great event and band.
Since we posted a picture of Southside Plaza in it’s glory days it is only fair that we give a shout to a business that is still there and trying revive the area with live music. After a short break Plaza Bowl is back strong with live shows. Tonight they will have Parlour Shakedown and [...]
The show starts at 8 on Friday, didn’t see cost listed on the Plaza Bowl Facebook page but there was some additional information about the Donkey Cabaret.
I understand the return of music not so sure I understand the crepes. Kudo to Plaza Bowl for trying different ways to get people in the door. From Facebook; Who likes crepes? This weekend Sat night Jan 29 8-12pm Music, Bowling, Beer, and Free Dessert Crepes! Thats right those ultra thin french pancakes made with [...]
Recently I’d noticed a lack of live music being advertised for Plaza Bowl. When asked about it Plaza Bowl responded, “We hope to have more live bands again in the near future, but for right now weve just been focusing our attention on our core business, bowling.” I sent an inquiry into Tiffany Community Chest [...]
There is a local connection. I read the following on the Woodland Heights Yahoo group: My band, the Lost Souls, is releasing an EP called Barflies. We are having our CD release party this Saturday night at the Capital Ale House Music Hall (Downtown on the corner of 7th and Main). The show is from [...]
