I’m generally not a big fan of St. Patrick’s Day but I do love heading down to O’Toole’s on the holiday for a pint just to see the mass of folks. Below is what’s going on at two of our local watering holes. If you want to brave the roads and the drunken masses wearing shirts they just picked up at Old Navy check out this guide.
If you’ve never gone to O’Toole’s on St. Patrick’s Day you haven’t lived. The full spectrum of folks hanging out drinking, talking and listening to music. Skip the drunken frat boys in Shockoe Bottom and grab a bar stool (if you can) next to a neighbor.
- Friday- 3/15 – St. Practice Day – The Donny Brooks and Out on a Limb
- Saturday- 3/16 – The Wake, Glen & Marge, The Donny Brooks, John Fetherson Band
- Sunday – 3/17 – St. Patrick’s Day!!! Glen & Marge, Pugsy Mahone, Triad, and Greater Richmond Bagpipers
You won’t find green beer here, thank god. The weather doesn’t look good for deck sitting but it probably won’t be as packed as other spots, which to me is a good thing.
- Sunday – 3/17 – Live bluegrass from Hardin Retty and the Anvil Brothers starting at 6:30pm, a performance from the Pipers and Drummers, as well as food and drink specials throughout the day!
