Richmond.com on New TaZa Space
Nice article by Stephen Robertson (aka Blanchard’s Coffee Guru) on the new TaZa expansion on Richmond.com this morning with plenty of pictures. I think it’s out grown the name TaZa and I might refer to it has the TaZa Town Market, since it has everything one could need for a nice dinner. Well everything except beer and wine and they’re working on that.
“As soon as we get our feet on the ground and meet a few more requirements of the Virginia ABC, we will begin selling wine and craft beer both on and off premise,” Spencer said. “A perfect complement to a Thursday evening live music, some artisan cheese and good friends and neighbors.”
taZa is sandwiched by local watering holes, The Forrest and The Locker Room. Spencer made it clear that taZa would remain a family-friendly café and by closing by 8 or 9 p.m., would avoid any spillover from the surrounding sports bar scene. Like this area’s other recent addition, Galley, taZa seeks to provide a much-needed positive addition to a beautiful community that has long been thirsty for a few more local dining and culture options.

Wonderful!!!
Great addition to the neighborhood. Will make a point to patronize Taza. I hope they can prosper and perhaps expand, taking over the furniture repair place next door…or at least inspire that owner to fix his place up.
marsha,
That’s what they did actually. They are now in the furnature repair place that was downstairs from them…
Question. Are the owners of TaZa still members of Bon Air Baptist Church and facilitating the book club of the church at their location? Maybe one of them can chime in here and let us know. Thanks!
The furniture place gave up some of his space, not all. It’s still there but sharing the bottom floor with TaZa. My husband and I went to TaZa on Wednesday and had great coffee and pastries. The place is really pretty and comfy. They have a platform/stage for bands which they plan on having in the future, and they are working toward getting their alcohol license. We are happy to have this great spot in our neighborhood and plan to visit often. We met Ben, the owner of TaZa and a very friendly guy. Go in and talk with him about his ideas and give him your feedback too.
My husband and I also had breakfast there on Wednesday…delicious breakfast bagels, coffee, and hot chocolate. And we got prime seating for watching the snow fall out of those big windows! Great space!
New plan when I get off the river at Reedy Creek: Go to taZa. Jealous of Westover Hills. TaZa has been very friendly to the Friends of James River Park and I’m rooting for their success.
I am cheering for TaZa too: it’s a great place to work out of run by the nicest guy. Can’t wait till they get beer and live music! It’d be cool to organize a “jelly day” where southside freelancers/remote workers/others not at a traditional office could go and work out of there together.
