Southbank musicians perform before Veep

Three of the four folks on stage (unfortunately you can’t see the drummer in this shot) call the Southbank their home. Pedro Aida, Paulo Franco, and Miguel A Rodriguez-Urbiztondo all headed out to Chesterfield Fairgrounds to rock the masses. There were also some political going ons that you can read about at RTD. Pedro gives us a first hand view of the event and how these Southbank boys ended up on stage. Congrats on the honor gents.

The shot above of the band was taken by Paulo’s girlfriend Sonia. It was quite an amazing and honoring experience to be involved in something like this. Through my brother, who works on the Kaine campaign, the Obama people got in touch with me in need of a band with about 20 hours notice. Due to rushed scheduling, Paulo’s drummer and guitarist were not going to be able to make it which is where Miguel and I jumped in. I sat on my front porch and taught myself the songs and with 16 hours to go, no rehearsal, and 4 cleared background checks later, we took the stage in front of over 500 attendee’s. The Biden advance team and road crew was more than accommodating and professional. We were told a “thank you” letter is in order from the White House, we’ll see about that one.
