Deadly accident on Westover Hills Blvd.

One woman was killed and another critically injured in a multi-vehicle crash Thursday night in South Richmond.

Richmond police Capt. Michael Zohab said the crash occurred at 9:52 p.m. in the 400 block of Westover Hills Boulevard, near the Crutchfield Street intersection, just west of George Wythe High School.

Both the woman who was killed and the injured woman were in a passenger car that initially collided with a sport utility vehicle, Zohab said.

One woman was declared dead at the scene, and the other was taken to VCU Medical Center to be treated for life-threatening injuries, Zohab said.

No other injuries were reported.

The identity of the dead woman was being withheld this morning pending notification of relatives.

The police department’s crash team spent nearly six hours at the scene trying to piece together details of the crash, which remained under investigation today.
