Watch The Lorax in Forest Hill Park on Friday

As part of the summer long Movies in the Park program the city will be showing Dr. Seuss’ The Lorax at 8:30, Friday in Forest Hill Park. This is a cute, not great movie, that most kids will enjoy.

Your faint praise made me LOL.
Yeah, I think it’s the problem with making an hour plus movie out of a 10 minute book. I do applaud the city for this type of activity and there needs to be more.
Okay, I just came back from the movie and I think you were way too kind in your assessment. The 1972 cartoon was fantastic. This new version was way off course. We were thinking while we were there that it would be really cool if they mixed some classics into the summer movie series — like maybe the old Haley Mills “Parent Trap” or Fantasia or something. I think people would still come!
I think the important thing here is…did the kids enjoy it?!
AB, my kid did not. He said it didn’t have anything to do with the book, which he loves. Plus as a 7-year-old boy, the whole love story aspect they introduced was a turnoff. We left before it was over.
The two kids in front of us doing the crip walk to “How Bad Can I Be” appeared to be really enjoying it — but I think they could have danced to “Let’s Get Together” just as enthusiastically.
