Pony Pasture 5k on Saturday

This race is dedicated to the memory of Dr. Peter Still. Peter was a scholar, gentleman, runner, and a friend to many. He passed doing what runner’s love, out on a morning run.
The proceeds of this race benefit the Richmond Road Runners Club Scholarship Fund. Each year the club awards two $2000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors. The scholarship is awarded to individuals who have and will represent the beneficial aspects of running as a healthy lifestyle.
T-shirts are guaranteed for the first 500 registered runners.
The 5K begins at 7:30 a.m. Walkers are welcome.
Course
The race takes place at the Pony Pasture Rapids Park located on the south bank of the James River two miles east of the Huguenot Bridge on Riverside Drive. The course is an out and back along the James River. The course is flat and fast. It is one of the most scenic race routes in Richmond. There will be mile markers at every mile. The course record holders are Tim Morris who ran 16:15 and Emily Ward (17:50), both in 2009.
