Volunteers needed to take down old playground

Thanks to O’Toole’s Restaurant for sponsoring a fundraiser for the Westover Hills Tot Lot on Monday, July 9. It was a huge success. Over 100 folks packed the popular local eatery to enjoy a great meal and to support the tot lot. O’Toole’s generously donated 15% of the designated receipts to the playground improvement fund.  Thanks to all those who came out for the evening.

The new playground equipment has been ordered and will be delivered in a few weeks. Before installation, old equipment must be removed and the playground prepared. The Westover Hills United Methodist church (which owns the playground) is looking for volunteers to help during the following work evenings/days:

  • Thursday, July 12   5-8 p.m.
  • Friday, July 13   5-8 p.m.
  • Saturday, July 14   8-11 a.m.

If you can help, please volunteer. Come for an hour, or for two or whenever you are available.  Please bring work gloves, and tools to remove the railroad ties and wooden equipment that is set in the ground if you have any that might be helpful.  Questions? Email pastorwhumc@verizon.net.  (Article submitted by Val Murphey)
