Kubaccha to open in Stratford Hills
We spread the rumor of a new eatery coming to Stratford Hills a little while back but I hadn’t heard or seen any follow up. Well, now Richmond BizSense.com has some follow up on the lovechild of child of Manny Mendez of Kuba Kuba and Chris DiLauro of Bacchus. The new place will be called Kubaccha, maybe as that seems to be an inside joke between the two. No opening date as of yet.
“We looked at the place, sat down and talked about it for about 15 minutes,” he said. “Then he looked at me and said, ‘Let’s do it.’ It was pretty spontaneous.”
DiLauro said he saw the restaurant serving the staples: soup, salad, hot and cold sandwiches, burgers, steak and seafood. The pair also wants to make sure the bar is top notch.
“There is just such a void for restaurants out there,” he said. “We’re trying to fill the gap. We want to be the place where people go when they want to drink a martini after work or take their parents to when they’re in town.”

I got wind of this a while back from a fellow frequent patron of O’Toole’s. I am super excited. I really hope that we are gifted with some cuban food. Kuba Kuba’s food is so good (so I hear) but the restaurant is so tiny. I hope they make it unique because honestly, a restaurants around the Forest Hills-Stratford Hills coordinator serve all of those types of foods.
