Alia Butler who was the driving force behind a Christmas Gift drive is looking to make a difference in another set of teen lives.
I am reaching out to everyone who has helped the Richmond Public Schools McKinney-Vento program in the past to see if anyone is able to help with a current need. First of all, I just want to thank each and everyone of you for everything you have done over the last year for my students. Your willingness to give to them has made a huge difference in their lives and the success of our program! As far as what I am currently in need of — Right now, I have several of my homeless seniors who are graduating this June and are in need of housing. I am reaching out to you to see if any of you know of anyone in the area who might be willing to rent out a room to a graduating senior. The students I am currently looking for rooms for are all females who would be able to pay around $200 a month in rent and should be able to provide their own basic necessities. The length of time each student will need housing will depend on the individual situation. If you know of anyone who might be interested in helping in this way please let me know I would love to discuss the possibility with them.Thank you for taking the time to read this and please do not feel obligated to help…I am just reaching out to all my networks to see if I can get these students situated before they graduate. Thanks again…you have already done more than enough!–Alia Butler, MA, MSWSchool Social WorkerMcKinney-Vento Regional Education Program
