No public meetings on possible E-ZPass fee addition

The proposed $1 a month fee raise was certainly a hot topic here and everyone on the internet when it first came to light. VDOT heard the outcry and has decided to deal with noise by closing the door so it can’t hear our complaints.

VDOT says it will not hold hearings on the proposed $1 monthly E-ZPass transponder fee.

“Right now, we’re not planning public hearings,” agency spokeswoman Tamara Rollison said.

State law does not require hearings on the issue, the department says.[via RTD]

I will be returning my transponder. I will not be using it if I have to pay a monthly fee. Quarters, dimes and nickels work great and there is no fee for exact change.
