Police looking for connections between recent shooting and carjacking

From RTD we get the details of a shooting and a carjacking that took place in our area early Sunday morning. Police have not confirmed any connection but are examining the possibility.

Richmond police Capt. Paul Kiniry said the shooting was reported at 4 a.m. in the 3400 block of Semmes Avenue, where a 22-year-old man said he was leaving the Island Venture restaurant when he was confronted by a group of males who began cursing at him. The victim said one of of the males shot him; he was treated at St. Mary’s Hospital for a graze wound to a lower leg.

At 4:30 a.m., a 41-year-old man told police he was in the 200 block of West 34th Street when he was confronted by three males, one with a handgun, who stole his silver Chevrolet Impala.

Detailed descriptions of the suspects in the two crimes were not offered.

    I have always wondered why parking is also allowed in front of that strip of retail. Let’s hope they catch these thugs.
