3rd Precinct Crime Reduction Flag Raising

The officers of the 3rd Precinct had the largest reduction in crime in the city over the past year. As acknowledgement of their achievement their headquarters can fly the Crime Reduction Flag. Yesterday they raised that flag in a brief ceremony. The hard work of our local officers resulted in a 10 percent reduction in violent crime, a 3 percent reduction in property crime and a 4 percent reduction in total major crime for 2011.

By the numbers, Third Precinct officers made 832 felony arrests in 2011, including 154 for narcotics violations and 138 for larceny. Officers made 2,291 misdemeanor arrests, to include 301 charges of assault, 141 charges of trespassing and 198 instances of drunk in public.
