Camden’s Dogtown Market Dinner Menu & a mini-review

In case you’re out of the loop Camden’s Dogtown Market is open and running and now even has dinner. Camden Dogtown Market which is calling itself a “Mediterranean influenced, from scratch prepared foods and local, small gourmet market” replaces Ejay Rin which took over from Savor/Lunch Porter in Manchester. Thanks to the Tweeting of Matt Sadler aka @themarinara I found out that the dinner menu was published today on the Dogtown Market Facebook. A small taste of the menu and a mini-review are below.

  • Pork Jam with Pickled Apricot-pork rillettes with crusty bread $8
  • Prince Edward Island Mussels-white wine, butter, garlic, crusty bread $8
  • Rappahannock River Oysters-local bivalves on the half shell with roasted garlic mignonette ½ doz $9 doz $15
  • Cheese Ensemble-ever changing selection of three with inspired condiments and crusty bread $10
  • Shrimp Scallop & Crab Cakes-seared & baked, over lightly dressed mesclun with lemon dill aioli $10 as an entrée $16

I’m calling this a mini review because it only covers one dish and one experience. I had one of the specials a Sailor Sandwich. It was excellent. Two words: HOMEMADE PASTRAMI. So good. Everything but the sausage were made in house and all were fresh and tasty. Service was spot on and the decor is funky and comfortable. Good selection of beer although I stuck with my Mexi-coke. My dining companion had the hummus plate and again everything was delicious. On the southbank we tend to whine about the lack of good dining options, don’t ignore this place, it is worth every dime.
