Huguenot High School “Construction Kick-off” Ceremony

Mayor Dwight C. Jones, City Council President Kathy C. Graziano, 4th District School Board Member Adria Graham Scott, and Huguenot High Principal Tyrus Lyles are inviting the public to join them Thursday, January 26th at 3 p.m. at Huguenot High to celebrate the start of construction of a new high school. More images of the school and plans can be found at Building a Better Richmond.
From the press release;
A new high school has not been built in the city of Richmond in more than 40 years. The construction kick-off event for the new Huguenot High School will involve the removal of the Forest Hill water tank which was inherited by the City through the annexation of portions of Chesterfield County. The building of new schools is part of a collective effort led by Mayor Dwight C. Jones, Richmond City Council, and the Richmond School Board.

I would still like to see solar panels as part of the new school. They could supply part of the school’s power during the school year and supply clean energy back into the grid during the summer break when the school is not using as much power.
I am hoping that it will serve as a school as well as a community resource that can be utilized for disaster recovery.
New Jersey, Florida, Connecticut, and other states are moving quickly with their solar school programs. The big barrier here in Viginia is Dominion Power and their dirty coal money.
I agree with the solar panel idea. On the subject of the water tower, does anyone happen to have a picture of it before the graffiti was painted over? I would really appreciate a copy if so.
