Cat and iPod found, cat did not have the iPod

From Westover Hills Stray Watch;
A stray male cat has appeared in the 4700 block of Sylvan (photograph attached). He is a young gray and black tabby with four white paws. He has no collar or ID, but is very playful and friendly and comfortable with people. The person in whose yard he appeared has other cats and cannot take him in without… consequence.
If he is your cat or if you know the owner, please contact us and we’ll put you in touch with the finder.
Another neighbor found a stray that is completely different kind of animal: an ipod “touch” in a little carrying case. It was found on the sidewalk in the 5200 block of Devonshire. It has no collar and no ID and it’s not clear whether it’s male or female. If it might be yours, you will need to describe the carrying case. Be warned, however, that it was found last week after a hard rain and may have suffered water damage. (Levity aside, someone really did find a lost ipod and is hoping to find its owner!)
Happy New Year, everyone.
Contact jmcoski@cavtel.net if you think either of these critters belong to you.

i am sure it had a paw in hiding it. sneaky buggers
If the iPod did get wet, put it in a bag of rice for a day… it’s worked miracles for me in the past with cell phones!
Hey Richard, I lost an iPod touch. I thought it had fallen out of my car and would be in the driveway, but it was not. It’s in a black soft sort of eel skin case. It was new this summer. I haven’t been on Devonshire with it. Maybe one of those cats liked the case?
@HillsHeights I love everything about that post.
He looks like Ollie from 5119 Evelyn Byrd. I’ll ask them this morning.
Since that mystery is solved, We can now focus our attention on that monkey with a bi-plane…
Lisa I don’t have the touch so I can’t verify. Contact jmcoski@cavtel.net
Thanks Viv, please pass on John’s email if their cat is missing: jmcoski@cavtel.net
I know that cat, it has a Droid, not an ipod
Our neighbor’s cat is not missing; that is not Ollie. Hope cat and ipod get back to their homes.
The cat is Tiger from 5003 King William. He lived at 5006 until they moved, now he is thoroughly confused. Please call 332-6336 and we’ll pick him up.
We found Tiger on the next block – case solved. Happy New Year!
If whoever has it now is interested in trying to find the owner; there was an article in the Washington Post about a lost iPod reunited w/it’s owner (http://www.washingtonpost.com/lifestyle/style/lost-and-found-ipod-shuffle-reunited-with-owner/2011/12/20/gIQAVmcy7O_story.html).
Here’s the part that tells how:
“The Post’s Ryan Kellett knew enough about iPod technology to examine the digital “watermark” associated with each purchased iTunes track.
You can find that by right-clicking on a song and going to “get info.” That brings up various pieces of data stored with the file — including, in this case, an e-mail address that served as the “Apple ID” on one of the tracks.
From the e-mail, he was able to find a phone number using other databases and — voila.”
