Shoes Causes Problems at Southside Plaza
Of all the problems facing our community it is with embarrassment and a bit of anger that I report that police and an ambulance had to be called to Southside Plaza yesterday. They had to be called because a mega-billion dollar shoe company, and a mega-millionaire released a limited edition tennis shoe and the citizens in our area weren’t civilized enough to act like adults when trying to purchase said shoes. From RTD;
By some estimates, as many as 300 people swarmed the DTLR urban fashion store when the doors opened at 10 a.m., with some shoppers who had been waiting for hours being crowded out or pushed aside. No fights, arrests or injuries were reported, but line jumpers caused some anxious moments when they tried forcing their way inside, witnesses said.
At least half a dozen Richmond police officers and an ambulance rushed to the scene to quell the unruly crowd.
“It got a little bit out of control, so they called the police,” said Richmond police Lt. Mauricio Tovar. The chaos subsided once the shoes sold out, he said.
We weren’t the only spot to be hit by this mad shoe virus. There were reports on the news of similar incidents and much worse throughout the country.

@HillsHeights wow, your response seems a bit harsh.
Sad
ALL THIS TO RESELL FOR $1000 ON EBAY!
Which part seemed harsh?
On Twitter I used the hashtags #stupidity #greed #money which are a little more harsh than the post above. I do think those tags apply to this story on many levels. Nike, Jordon, retailers and consumers all displayed the traits mentioned.
I repeat: what part seemed harsh. I didn’t see Richard say anything that was not perfectly fair.
Was it Harry Turman?. “I DIDN’T GIVE THEM HELL. I JUST TOLD THE TRUTH AND THEY THOUGHT IT WAS HELL.”
It is clear from the article that the consumers displayed the traits mentioned above. And I don’t know the full details, but how did anyone other than the consumers display those traits? Based on the limited information provided, how are Nike and Jordan at fault for this?
