NBC12 on Grinch that Hit a Local Home
This past Monday on Melbourne Drive just off Forest Hill Avenue across from the Willow Oaks neighborhood a house was robbed. Lately that isn’t surprising but the extra step these criminals took to ruin Christmas moves this a notch up on the scummy scale. From NBC12;
All their Christmas gifts were torn open. A doll, tennis shoes and other unwanted presents left behind.“You can see they didn’t take the sleeping bag. No one’s interested in that,” said Caterino.
He said they stole a Nintendo game console meant for his little girl and a video game for his brother. He warned his neighbors.
“It’s sort of scary because we always had such a safe neighborhood around here,” said Don Price.
Thief or thieves actually took the time to open the presents and pick and choose. The list of people who have had their holiday season ruined by these criminals is getting quite long. The police have assigned a detective but as always could use your help. If you see, anything and I mean anything, suspicious call 911 or the non-emergency line 646-5100.

Uniformed officers were patrolling on foot around 10:30 this morning in Westover Hills (alleys between Westover Hills Blvd and 5000 block of Caledonia and New Kent). I asked if something new had happened, and the officers said no then they swiftly walked away. They were patrolling the same area in cars around noon today.
To all, please do not discuss the specific tactics the PD is using to try and catch these thieves. We don’t want to aid the criminals in any way by giving them times, tactics and locations of units operating in our neighborhood.
Glad to know there is an active police presence in our area and so sorry for the kids in the family in the story above (stealing gifts from kids earns you a special place in h#ll in my book). That street is behind Food Lion & the abandoned McDonalds. Not good for the family in the story above, but maybe the scumbags have moved on from my block…
Truly said that the Westover Hills area is being targeted. I hope Police step it up.
