If he isn’t up late at night helping to roast 1,000s of pound of coffee, he might be at Crossroads sipping a beer, or more likely he is running about to various RVA businesses either singing the praises of Blanchard’s locally roasted beans or making sure that every aspect of their relationship with Blanchard’s is running smoothly. What’s the part of your job that excites you the most, the thing that makes you want to hurry to work?

Aside from the first cup of coffee of the day, right?

I love being around people.

I love it when my excitement about coffee rubs off on them.

I love seeing tweets about coffee nuts enjoying our coffee.

I love getting behind the espresso bar at a coffee shop we roast for and pulling shots of espresso with the barista and teaching them how to get a better extraction.

I love that a good number of my clients greet me with a hug—to me, that is success.
