More Info. on Suspicious Going Ons
From Westover Hills Crime Watch;
Greetings – the Westover Hills neighborhood has been targeted by thieves in recent days. What follows is information just provided to me by a neighbor that describes the car and behavior of the probable thieves:
A bright red Toyota Camry with a VA license plate.
A specialty plate with Colonial fife players on it.
Two (2) young black men, medium height and build, wearing black including black ski hats. went up to front door and knocked or rang the bell.
After getting no response, they walked around to the side of the house.
As they were at the door, the driver of the Toyota moved the car down the block a little and parked it on the other side of the street.
After about 15 minutes the car was gone.

Put the Police Non-emergency number 646-5100 in a prominent place and program it into your cell phone.
The thieves are obviously casing houses to make sure no one is home.
Two of the break-ins occurred on New Kent between 9:30 am to 11:45 am Saturday morning.
In both instances the rear door of the house was forced open. A laptop was taken from one location and two 32” flat screens were taken from the other location. Please spread the word for everyone to be on the lookout for any suspicious activity or persons, especially in the alleys and backyards of homes.

A policeman gave me a great, important tip years ago: the screws holding most deadbolts are only about 1/4″ long, anchoring the deadbolt into simple trim, making it very easy to kick in a door. Replace these with 1 1/2″ screws, anchoring your deadbolt into the solid wood door frame, it’ll slow ‘em down quite a bit
Just heard another house was robbed last night on Westover Hills Blvd near the top of the hill.
There was a possible break in today 12/19/11 on 31st avenue, first block off the non-river side of Semmes Avenue. Around 11am, I heard the neighbor’s alarm going off and when I looked out front there was a red Toyota Camry out front. Within seconds, the car raced away and I am sorry to say I did not get the license plate number! I called the police and they came quickly. I am not sure of the ultimate result but the owner soon arrived and hopefully the assailants did not take anything and the alarm scared them off.
A red Camry was mentioned in a comment on another crime-related H & H article. Please continue to watch for that car and call 911 if you see it. Thx!

Just had a black guy in his late 20′s wearing a cammo jacket and a grey hoodie knock on my door. (Monday 2:45pm). My dogs went crazy at the door. I didn’t answer the door, but the second I made a noise that let him know a human was home, he immediately turned and booked towards Riverside. I grabbed my phone and some pepper spray and immediately walked out of my house (maybe ~30 seconds?) to follow him in my car. He was gone. Without question off to a waiting car. He was NOT going from door to door selling anything. And unless he tumbled down into the woods towards the park, there is no way he dissapeared so quickly on foot. Our neighborhood is under attack people. Stay viligent, stay aware. Let these thugs know that our neighborhood won’t get robbed without a fight.
