Loose Dog Alert & Found Dogs Update

Posted on the Woodland Heights Yahoo Group;

Hey, i just came across a frantic lost dog with a protective doctor’s shield around his neck. He seems very nice but very lost. I think he is a yellow lab mix. I tried to call him over but he ran down McDounough toward West 24th. I hope he does not make his way over to Semmes because he can’t see with that shield.

If your are interested in reading the fates (all good) of some recently found pups in our hood read on.

The little guy above and his brother went to the SPCA last week and have already found new permanent homes.
The young chap above has a more extensive update from Monica who found him.

Toto was picked up (very gently) by a kindly officer from Animal Care and Control on Sunday early afternoon.
I phoned them yesterday to make sure he is ok and wanted to know if he had been claimed yet.
The update from “Donna” at Richmond ’s animal shelter as of Wednesday, December 7:

The dog is doing fine; 3 people have already contacted them to adopt him.

He turns out to be a Welsh Terrier puppy, only 4 months old based on the fact that he still has his puppy teeth, which he would have lost if he were older than that.

They do not plan to hand him over to the SPCA, they can and will adopt him out directly from their facility. He will be kept there until Dec 15, and if the owner does not claim him by then, they will process the three applications for his adoption.

BTW, they carefully consider all adoption applications, and make sure that the person applying for adoption will have the time and resources to ensure good care.

Donna said the other option for us would be to keep him at our place and let them know we have him, so if the owner calls them, we would bring him to Animal Care & Control to get him back to his owner. We did not use that option, b/c we are too busy right now and already have a dog.
