Richmond.com Profiles Forest Hill

June 17, 1906 issue of The Times Dispatch
Today, the neighborhood is home to a diverse population. “We still have the World War II generation, and at the other end, we have young families,” Donohue said. They’re drawn by the neighborhood’s natural setting, said Carolyn Paulette, chairwoman of the Forest Hill historic designation committee. “The river and the park are two of the?major attractions for residents, both old and young.”
The neighborhood’s restaurants and coffee shops are powerful draws, too, as is its vibrant social life, which includes a neighborhood Christmas party and an annual 4k run through Forest Hill Park.
Technically its a 5k but whose counting? Some other items they missed.
- Annual Community Yard Sale – I always find treasures
- Active church community and with that includes Good Shepherd School
- South of the James Farmers’ Market
- 43rd Street Gallery & the 43rd Street Art Festival
- Music in the Park
- Sunday With Friends in the Park (cancelled this year due to weather)
- Restoration of Forest Hill Park Lake
- Bike trail bonanza and tons of bike/running events in the park

Thanks, Richard. Thought it would be great for everyone to see the photos of the houses from the article online. No, none of the info is new for those of us who live in Forest Hill, but for those who live elsewhere, the article informs them about what a great neighborhood we have. We left out the gallery and the market and the cleaned-up lake, but the newspaper has had a number of articles about these. Appreciate all of the positive press Forest Hill receives. Thank you, Doug Childers. And thank you, Richard
