Richmond.com Looks At Manchester
From Richmond.com;
Today, the Manchester district is perhaps best known for its trendy real estate makeovers and white-hot art scene. Go back 175 years, though, and the district was a bustling port city whose productivity rivaled Richmond, its twin city across the James River.
I currently have checked out from the library “Old Manchester & Its Environs, 1769-1910” by Benjamin B. Weisiger III. The book has a ton of pictures and I hope to present some before and afters later this week.

Being a Manchester resident and a lover of our city’s history, I can’t wait to see what you find. With some luck, we can bring this area back to the community and neighborhood that it was.
Heck yes! We love it over here.
This is completely unrelated, but does anyone know what they’re building along Semmes at Canoe Run Park…by the FasMart and antiques shop?
it’s a new fire station
As Foust said, it’s new Fire Station 17 that link has a sketch of the building.
Thanks!
