60th Patrick Henry Kindergarten Reunion

Now there is a headline I wasn’t expecting to write. RTD has a nice article about some folks, who attended Patrick Henry in 1951. They and about 40 class and schoolmates are gathering this weekend for a cookout at Willow Oaks Country Club .

“Life was so innocent and different,” Robinson said. “Everybody walked everywhere, and you had the freedom to do that. We didn’t have all the rules we have now.”

Pritchard and Robinson recalled crawling under their desks to prepare for air raids, standing in line for polio vaccines and walking across Semmes after school to a High’s Ice Cream shop.

There were trips to Reedy Creek, down the hill from the school, to fetch water to peer at through microscopes in science class, picnics in Forest Hill Park and the cafeteria lady who would make the best sticky buns.
