Wednesday’s Souther of the James Farmers’ Market Closes Up
I don’t have any more information than what was posted on the Facebook page;
Unfortunately, due to various circumstances we will be discontinuing the Souther of the James farmers market on Wednesdays, effective immediately. The Market Umbrella thanks all of its loyal vendors and customers who committed themselves this spring and summer to the success of the market.
I’ve got some questions into the folks at Market Umbrella so if I find out more I’ll post it. Despite everyone’s best efforts the market never really seemed to attract the large crowds which was a shame.
Such a shame– but it was in a rather inconvenient location, and somewhat poorly publicized. No one aside from our Forest Hill neighbors seemed to know that it existed. The only convenient way to get to it was if you were heading East on Forest Hill– and equally inconvenient to leave unless you were still heading toward the city. Hate to see them go, though!
Being on a work day didn’t help, either.
I agree AWEllis. Although Byrd House Market which runs on Tuesdays, May through, October has certainly been successful, something just didn’t click for our day/location.
