$15 Million Apartment Building Coming to Manchester

You know that empty lot on Semmes right before the bridge that used to serve as a parking lot? Well it might not be empty for long. According to Richmond BizSense.com the property located at 901 McDonough St. sold for 2 million to Dominion Realty Partners.
Dominion, which had been after the property since 2009, is planning a four-story, 188-unit apartment development and parking garage. Almost $16 million in building permits have been filed for the project, which will likely be called Manchester Place. It sits across from the UPS building.
“It’s a bold move,” said Lewis Little, a senior associate with Grubb & Ellis | Harrison & Bates who represented the sellers. “It says a lot about Dominion’s belief in the Southside of Richmond.”
Parking already seems to be at a premium over there I’m wondering if this will cause even more issues?

It is very exciting to see more interest in the south side of the river. I just hope it is not an ugly box apartment building.
That’s great news for SSRVA. I’m sure a parking garage will take care of the parking issues.
Greg,
I don’t believe you are reading correctly…it isn’t a “parking garage” for general use, it will be for the residents of the apartment building. Some people…
Considering UPS was not allowed to build a parking garage above ground, I doubt one will be put in due to zoning issues with small residences nearby. This is only going to make the parking issues even worse for employees at UPS Freight and the residences living nearby. Can UPS employees get discounts for rent? Also, are the view’s from the UPS Building going to look into the bedrooms of the new residences?
