Farmers’ Market Open Today & A Wine Festival

The most important news is that yes the market will be open. As they said on the Market Umbrella Facebook page, “Stop in for a little post hurricane market. If you have power, restock your freezers. If you don’t, come get dinner…and a hug.” Souther of the James runs on Wednesdays 3 PM – 8 PM at 4910 [...]

Stray Dog Spotted in Woodland Heights

This guy was spotted yesterday wandering on Stonewall Ave. between West 28th and 29th. Not known whether he is a local resident or came from further out. He alluded attempts to capture. Thanks to Aimee for sending in the picture and information.

Saturday’s Basket – Irene’s Italian Brisket and Zucchini Stackers

Since we could all use some comfort food after crazy Irene breezed through, I’ve combined a few of my previous market purchases and creations into one sweet, settle-in-with-the-candles-and-on-the-couch, slow-cook dinner.  Brisket is available most weekends at numerous meat and poultry stands, just check the boards.  As for this year’s first pumpkin-ish zucchini side dish, stop [...]

Streetlight Update – Get Used to the Dark

If you read this blog on a regular basis already know Tim is the brains behind the mixology of H&H Happy Hour, lives in Stratford Hills, and is pretty damn awesome. What you might not have picked up is that he is what some will call a “foodie”. Richmond.com has series that asks 5 questions of Richmond [...]

Looters Beware

The story behind this image is much less scary than the title. An artist wanted a canvas and his dad a local business owner obliged. The business owner doesn’t own a shotgun and is not lying in wait. Do you know where it is?
