More Accusations in Walle Case

According to Jennifer Walle’s attorney Council Member Reva Trammell has stated that Council President Kathy Graziano used a derogatory term to describe Jennifer Walle and she in fact enjoyed the offensive touching alleged to have taken place by David Hathcock. Also Walle believes she was terminated for filing a complaint with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. The result of these new allegations is another complaint filed by Jennifer Walle with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. The complaint was filed on Monday but was made public today.

The new allegations came to light just hours before City Council was scheduled to vote tonight on a long-gestating and controversial plan to build a new city jail. Hayden Fisher, Walle’s attorney, says the timing is coincidental.

  • Times Dispatch has the lengthiest article and points out some issues with the letter that Walle received about her employment.

According to the filing, Walle received on April 3 a letter from City Clerk Lou B. Ali that was dated March 25. The letter stated that Walle needed “to respond no later than March 28, 2011.”

Walle said she received on April 6 another letter stating that she had been terminated because she had not responded by March 28 as requested.

Ali’s initial letter, which Walle had received April 3, was “sent to the wrong address and forwarded to me past the date I was expected to respond,” Walle said in her filing.
