Investigation on Possible Hit & Run by Richmond Fire Department

The Richmond Police Department Crash Team is investigating a possible crash involving a Richmond Fire Department vehicle and several bicyclists tonight in the intersection of Forest Hill Avenue and Westover Hills Boulevard .

Officers were dispatched at 7:36 p.m. At the scene, they found two juvenile bicyclists who suffered what appeared to be minor injuries. They were transported by Richmond Ambulance Authority to Chippenham Hospital to be checked out.

Investigators are looking into reports that the RFD vehicle, travelling through the intersection responding to a call, may have come into contact with the bicyclists. Some eyewitnesses allege that the vehicle continued on without stopping. It was raining heavily at the time.

The investigation is on-going, to determine exactly what happened.
