Pick of the Crop – 2 Dye 4 or Did I Wake Up in 1972

Partnerships can be a wonderful thing, especially when there is a subtle synergy that just seems to happen on its own.  Bonny Rike, proprietor of the 2 Dye 4 clothing company found that the mint green background of the Snider Brothers bus allows for a great backdrop for her multi-colored tie-dye creations.  So, you can see them both in action.

Bonny has been in business since 2006.  The biz idea came of fun with the 3 kids and a realization that she was really pretty good at this sort of thing.  Bonny already had the business head as she had come from the accounting industry.  She still maintains a tax-return side as well as a part-time gig counting beans for the Market Umbrella.  It all works out well, and as with all of the entrepreneurs who sell their wares at the market, it provides for a busy life.  Her 3 kids, now 16, 12 and 6 provide assistance as they are capable.

2 Dye 4 has one of the best logos.  And it has a fond memory with it.  It is a photograph from a family beach vacation with her clothing items drying from the porch.  Simplicity in a picture.  The venue for Bonny is not only the markets, but also a few craft shows and private parties.  She will do, for in the neighborhood of $20 a person depending on the specifics, parties for any group which includes a shirt that they make.  She will tackle any group from age 4 up.  Wouldn’t this be an unusual bachelorette party; tie-dying pretty little undies and such.  She works with fund-raisers and churches and fellow vendors for events like Earth Day.

Here is her current list of items available:

  • Sundresses
  • Tees
  • Boxer shorts
  • Undies
  • Long sleeves
  • Hoodies
  • Baby clothes (really cute onesies!)
  • Hats
  • Bibs
  • Socks
  • Hair ties
  • Shoe laces

Got a custom order for her? No sweat.  Actually, custom orders represent a third of her overall business.  Her business base is her home which allows her to work flexibly and be productive.  Bonny is a very mellow, peaceful persona; I’m guessing her work agrees with her very well.

How about a tie-dye family reunion shirt?  Or team colors?  She can handle it, try her out!

See you Wednesday!  Oh, and did I mention that the market has a corn-hole game set up?  Not for wussies!!!

Souther of the James runs on Wednesdays 3 PM – 8 PM at 4910 Forest Hill Ave (23225). Music this week by The Five and Dimers and here is your list of vendors.
