Lt. Bender’s Written Response to Fonticello Park Issues
The Following was posted yesterday on the Woodland Heights Yahoo Group page by Sara;
Good morning,
I’m glad to hear your concerns in reference to the park which is a vital part of your neighborhood and I look forward to working with you to find viable solutions to these issues. I have spent many years as an Officer, Sergeant and now as the Sector Lieutenant in 211 and fully understand the issues that arise in the park during the spring and summer months. I will do everything I can to assist you in your efforts to make the area a better place to live and work.These are some of the steps we have taken to increase our visibility and clear out the problems. I have forwarded the concerns about the park to all of the Officers and Sergeants that are assigned to the Sector so that they are aware of the problem. I have had an officer look at the signs around the park to ensure that the property is posted in a manner that will allow us to enforce the trespassing after dark and get convictions which could result in the person being barred from the park by the Judge. I have an outdoor roll call scheduled for Sunday 5-29-11 at 9PM in the park which will mean the entire midnight shift will be in the park before the beginning of their shift. I have also increased the amount of Officers that are riding a bike in the Sector and you should see them periodically in the area.
If you would like to have a meeting to discuss these issues or any other concerns please feel free to contact me. Thank you.
Lt. Michael J. Bender, Jr.

Mike is a good man – glad to see a plan in place on this one.
