Style Weekly Best Awards for H&H Area

In our day to day life we often forget how lucky we are to live where we do. You should bookmark this post and when ever you feel the urge to move to the county check out what you would be giving up. Without further ado here are just some of H&H’s Style Weekly Best of Richmond 2011. Confession time – the Style Weekly database was dragging for me so I didn’t check every category. Please add any I missed in the comments.

  • Best Barbecue – 3rd Place – Q (It’s a stretch but Tuffy lives here so I’m claiming it for H&H.)
  • Best Burger – 1st Place – Five Guys (Excellent choice. Although I’m dissappointed it is a chain, I’d rather see local only in the Best of Richmond.)
  • Best Cheap Lunch – 3rd Place – Nate’s Taco Truck (Again a stretch but he lives here and the truck is here at the Farmers’ Market.)
  • Best Coffeehouse for Coffee – 3rd Place – Crossroads (This could change next year due to the addition of Blanchard’s coffee in the lineup.)
  • Best Coffeehouse for Hanging Out – 1st Place – Crossroad (No brainer, great place to hang.)
  • Best Comfort of Soul Food Restaurant – 2nd Place – Croaker’s Spot (I could go there for the cornbread alone.)
  • Best Farmers’ Market – 1st Place – South of the James Farmers’ Market (I’m still bitter we lost last year but glad to see RVA came to their senses.)
  • Best Food Truck of Cart – 1st Place – Nate’s Taco Truck (See my previous justifications.)
  • Best Local Food Product – 3rd Place – Pizza Tonight (Available at your local Farmers’ Market.)
  • Best Mexican Restaurant – 1st Place – Mexico (Not my first choice but can see the reasoning behind the selection.)
  • Best Outdoor Dining Experience – 2nd Place – Legend (I much prefer the laid back vibe here then the crowds at the Boathouse which won.)
  • Best Park – 2nd Place – Forest Hill Park
  • Best Place to Cycle – 1st Place – James River Park System -2nd Place Belle Isle
  • Best Place to Swim – 1st Place – James River (Notice it doesn’t say Best Place to Ride a Tree in Near Flood Conditions.)
  • Best Playground – 2nd Place – Forest Hill Park Playground (I wish this one had more shade but it is great even in the heat.)
  • Best Bar (South Side) – 1st Place – O’Toole’s – 2nd Place – Legend
  • Best Bar for Daytime Drinking – 2nd Place – Legend (Not a bar but Crossroads if pretty fine as well, or so I hear.)
  • Best Local Do-Gooder – 1st Place – Patience Salgado (Better known as Kindness Girl and she rocks.)
  • Best Public Servant – 3rd Place – Kathy Graziano (City Council President and Council Board Member for the 4th District which covers a good chunk of H&H.)
