Sector 312 Report for January
January saw a decrease in violent crime by 13% as compared to December. We went form 16 violent crimes sector wide to 14 violent crimes. We saw a 11% increase of major crimes with 88 crimes occurring in December as compared to 98 criminal occurrences in January.
Unfortunately, we had a spike in commercial robberies in a three block area of Jahnke Rd during January. We adjusted our resources and attacked this problem. On January 27, we made an arrest, and this series of robberies was stopped.

Good work RPD! This blog is the only place I’ve heard about the arrest of a suspect in the Jahnke Road robberies. It would help deter crime if the news media would cover arrests as much as crimes. From the police reports, it appears that this was an 18 yr. old who lived a couple of blocks away from the robberies. I think showing names and photos of perps on the news would hopefully shame them somewhat, and more importantly may make others think twice before doing something similar.
