As usual and expected James River News Hub beat me on a story about the James. This time Phil brings us news of repairs to the roof of the Pumphouse. The roof was in need of repair due to a 6 foot hole. Recently the Pumphouse has fallen on hard times as a sinkhole that has grown to at least 12 feet, forced the city to close the access road. The fear was that perhaps the city was ignoring this grand building, so it’s good news to hear of the repairs.
As of the first week of February, the Richmond Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities has approved two contracts to repair to the roof of the Pump House near the entry to the second room, according to public relations manager Christy Everson. Each of the contracts is for approximately $5,000 — one is to make repairs to the underlying roof, and the other will cover replacing the shingles.

That sinkhole’s a little bigger than six feet – there are Jersey walls, cones and “ROAD CLOSED” signs at the bottom that have been consuuummmed.
The hole in the roof has grown to six feet, not the sinkhole in Pump House Road. Jennifer C. is correct. The sinkhole is more like 15 feet wide.
I shall be enrolling in a Reading is Fundamental course immediately. Additionally I’ll fix the post.
Wow, that photo of the Pumphouse is gorgeous.
