Parts of Forest Hill Ave to be Closed for 2 Months
DPU Press Release;
Beginning Tues. Feb. 1, 2011 from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, the city of Richmond Department of Public Utilities will be renewing cast iron natural gas mains in the west bound lane of Forest Hill Avenue from Roanoke Street to 47th Street.
This section of Forest Hill Avenue will be closed to through traffic. Motorists are asked to follow all posted detour signs. Motorists traveling in this area on Forest Hill Avenue will be detoured around the construction area by taking Roanoke Street to Midlothian Turnpike; proceed west on Midlothian Turnpike; taking the exit off-ramp to Belt Blvd; continue north on Belt blvd back to Forest Hill Avenue. This project is expected to take approximately 60 days.

In other words, they’ll be going right through Forest Hill Terrace. Whee.
It might be amusing to go sit in the dead end on Sharon Ct with a lawn chair and a clicker, though.
sharon ct. gets enough of that as it is, the next 2 months are going to be a nightmare
Does anyone know if this work will affect natural gas service in the surrounding area?
I’m sure the press release would have mentioned in cuts in service. If you have any problems or heard differently, please let me know.

Only the westbound lane of Forest Hill between Roanoke and 47th is going to be closed for 2 months starting tomorrow morning.
The detour that the city plotted out (Roanoke to Midlothian to Belt to Westover Hills)is a huge cluster. Isn’t there a faster way around this mess (other than Riverside Drive)?
