Richmond Green Infrastructure Assessment Released

This is just one map of many. This one, highlights the potential of vacant parcels to create a green infrastructure network connecting the James River Branch Trail to the James River Park System.

From the report Foreward (it is a large pdf);

The purpose of the Richmond Green Infrastructure Assessment is to identify vacant parcels that could add significant value to the city’s open space portfolio in the form of a green infrastructure network. This report presents the results of the assessment: a potential citywide green infrastructure network and strategies that can be applied at the neighborhood scale to improve habitat, recreational access and water quality.

The report covers the entire Richmond area and gives a great overview of the vacant lots in our city and possible uses. You can learn more about the Richmond City Green Infrastructure Assessment at the GIC website.
