Eagles Back Near Boulevard Bridge
Last year Andy Thompson had a story about Eagle Racing on Riverside Drive. This year we are hearing from Rex Springston and the RTD about a pair of eagles that are setting up house.
Many Richmonders got excited when a pair of bald eagles built a nest last year in the James River near the Boulevard Bridge.
That excitement turned to sadness when the birds abandoned the nest, apparently because their eggs got cold and died.
Now the birds are back — and facing better odds for producing chicks.
“The likelihood of success goes up each year” for young eagle pairs, said Bryan Watts, a bird expert with the College of William and Mary and Virginia Commonwealth University.
Apparently the nest is high in a pine on an island about a half-mile west of the Boulevard Bridge and viewable from Riverside Drive. If anyone captures a picture of the eagles send it in so we can share.

I saw one of the eagles over here in the vicinity of the Lee Bridge just a few days ago.
Great to have them back. :o)
