Richmond.com Reviews Stony Point’s CinéBistro
Dinner and a movie. Until now, they’ve been separate activities, but the recent addition of CinéBistro attempts to merge the two elements of date night. So, can Stony Point Fashion Park’s newest restaurant pull it off? While we were impressed by the overall movie experience, we can’t say we would recommend the dinner portion of this duo.

Hmmm… I disagree. My husband and I have been twice and have enjoyed our meal. CineBistro makes it very clear that your food service is a one shot deal – everything you order comes out at once. And we had no problem with our empty dishes being on a tray table in front of us…because we ate our food and they were pretty much empty! I’m a believer in meeting dining establishments where they live. I wouldn’t order a fancier type entree at CineBistro because I’m aware that there is no Chef in the back preparing it. We’ve stuck with the sandwiches/burgers and have been pretty impressed with both the movie and dining experience. If you haven’t been – it is a great, adult date-night and I highly recommend.
I’ve been and enjoyed it. The seats are great. They are in groups of 2 – obviously designed for couples.
I agree w/Dawn, order food w/reasonable expectations. Get a pitcher of beer and some popcorn. Not a shrimp and pancetta pasta.
The one thing that I did not like was the lack of clearing plates. Once, my neighbor apparently didn’t like her order of bbq ribs so they stayed right btwn her and me for the whole movie. At first I didn’t mind, but after an hour I was ready to stop smelling her food. Not the cinemas fault that she didn’t eat, but it was kind of gross.
Thanks for the additional reviews Dawn & Megan. I haven’t been but will probably give it a shot.
My wife and I went and thoroughly enjoyed it. Agree with Dawn and Megan. We didn’t expect fine dining, but we loved having a pitcher of beer at our seats. Food was decent….we shared appetizers. Overall, the entire experience was great and worth the money. We will be back.
I have been twice and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The theater seating is very comfortable and the food was better than I expected. Overall it was very good and I will definitely return.
Anybody want to state how much this experience cost them? I was not under the impression it was a reasonably priced date for what it is.
Prices are not a mystery – just check their website. Movie tickets are identical in price to what you would pay at any other venue ($10 or $7.50 for a matinee). Food prices range from $8-$13 for appetizers/salads and $15-$23 for mains. Doesn’t sound like it’s any pricier than your standard nice dinner out. Plus, it’s over 21 only.
You are not required to buy food. If you just want to see a movie, it’s a nice 21 and older, clean, comfortable option for the same price as any theater.
The food prices are not cheap, but they are inline with what many restaurants charge.
You could go and just spend 10 to have a pleasant movie watching experience. Or you could easily add two 9 dollar cocktails, a 13 dollar appetizer and a 20 entree (+17.5% tip) and end up spending over 60 dollars.

I went to CineBistro with family and all of us had a great meal. We were pleasantly surprised because like posters before me, I wasn’t expecting excellent food. Each of us in our party got something different and everything was delicious. I had the chicken dish which was excellent. And the desserts were good as well.
The trick with the plates- get there early so you are the first ones served. That way, you’re finished in time to hand your empty plates to the wait staff as they make final call. This is what we did and it was GREAT not having empty plates in front of us during the movie.
[...] food. Quite a few of the 40 + commentators disagree. We already covered this on the 9th with the Richmond.com review but it is rare when something on the Southside gets one review let alone two. Posted by Richard.H [...]
The atmosphere is elegant yet casual. The Theater is top notch and comfortable. The food is satisfactory and priced well considering it is a movie theater. I’d rather have a 12 dollar burger and a 9 dollar cocktail with my movie than a couple boxes of over priced candy, popcorn and a soda. The experience is customizable for any budget and I would never go to another theater again. There is no one under 21 permitted in the theaters which is awesome! Don’t take anyone’s word for it though, go experience it for yourself.
