Push for James River Parks License Plate
Friends of James River Parks are working to get the plate above approved but need more people to sign up for the plate. Right now they have 163 signed up but need 350 by January 1st. It costs just $25 ($35 for a vanity). Applications and online payment at the Friends of James River Parks.

The JR Park license plate campaign will be at the Sierra Club Falls of the James fundraiser/holiday gala tomorrow night.
It’s such a wonderful design, I certainly hope that other join me in signing up. Thanks for drawing attention to such a great cause.
We’re actually over 175 applications in and momentum is building. I bet you’ve had more than $25 worth of fun in the JRPS this year. Give the park a present by getting a plate! Thanks!
I see things like this and think they are worthy of support. Then I reflect on how many vanity plates we have in virginia. Several other worthwhile causes also seek funds via license plates. The most prominent being the Ches Bay license plate, which directs the funds collected to restoration projects throughout the watershed. For every new plate that comes out, it reduces the reach of the others. Because of that, I would rather provide a check directly to FJRP so these other existing mechanisms can continue to be effective and not have their capacities diminished by reduced plate sales.
I suspect this is an unpopular perspective, but how many wheels should we reinvent? Can’t we use the existing infrastructure to focus our collective community efforts?
