South of the James Farmers’ Market News

Tidbits gleaned from the Market Umbrella Facebook page:

  • Simply Savory is a new vendor and will have chili, sweet potato chipotle soup, kale soup, cornbread and two mustards (cranberry & brown ale).
  • Check out Mary’s Peace Gourmet Grub sugar skulls for the Day of the Dead which is on November 2nd. What you see below is just the beginning. I can’t wait to see the final product.
  • Costumed dog parade (starts at 10), costumed vendors, treats for the kids and free Halloween face painting from Henna Body Art by Colleen Heller.
  • Friends of James River Park will be collecting applications for their license plate effort. If you sign up for a plate you get a free membership.
  • Magazine 33 did a profile on the market calling it a Gem of Richmond, “The market has a healthy population of local artisans with tables of funky jewelry, hand-dyed clothes, rainbarrels, t-shirts, meats, veggies, flowers, fruit, and the list goes on.  Though some people go to shop, others go for the social aspect.”
