Sector 312 Report for September
Lieutenant Stephen E. McQuail (Stephen.McQuail@richmondgov.com or 646-1944) has released the latest Sector Report.
September started off as a busy month with a rash of shed break ins in the Westover Hills and Forest Hill neighborhoods. Over the week-end of the fourth and fifth of September, detached garages and sheds were broken into and a variety of property was stolen. We immediately addressed this issue with increased patrols, assistance from our K9 unit, and communication with the residence in the area. Several suspicious individuals were stopped in the area of the break ins, and in October an arrest was made by Sergeant Chris Jernigan of an individual that was breaking into a shed.
There had also been several thefts from motor vehicles in the For-est Hill area. Officer Stacy Rogers made a good arrest of an individual who was breaking into a car in Forest Hill Park. We are still seeing too many instances of valuables being left visible in cars. The total for major crime in the sector was down by 3% as compared to last year.
There were seven individual robberies for the month. Three were actually attempted robberies that were not completed. Two of the attempted robberies occurred in the 6900 and 7000 blocks of Marlowe Rd. These robberies caused the violent crime to rise by 11% as compared to last year.
Overall, all other violent crime was down. My officers are working in a proactive manner to deter crime. They are conducting in high visibil-ity patrol and are interacting with the community. We would rather deter a criminal incident than to respond to one that has already occurred.
