Patrick Henry Seeks Two Board Members

Patrick Henry School of Science and Arts is looking for a new Treasurer and Secretary. Both are one year terms.

PHSSA is seeking a new Treasurer for a 1 year term. The role includes managing finances of the organization, a non-profit with a 501c3 status. The candidate would be elected to the board of directors, be required to attend board meetings 2x/month and administer fiscal matters of the organization. The treasurer is responsible for overseeing an annual budget of the organization to the board for members’ approval. Additional responsibilities include: Ensuring strong internal controls environment, monthly financial reporting; oversee bookkeeping, cash-flow management, and other related duties. Ideal qualifications for the position include professional experience in the following areas: accounting, bookkeeping, auditing, financial analysis and/ or budgeting. Accounting degree and CPA certification preferred.

PHSSA is also seeking a new Secretary for a 1 year term.  The Secretary shall be responsible for attending up to 2 Board meeting a month and taking minutes at all board meetings.  After the board meetings, the secretary should format the minutes in PHSSA approved style and circulate them for approval and produce a final copy. The Secretary will also be responsible for compiling the agendas for all board meetings.  In addition, the secretary will need to manage official correspondence on behalf of PHSSA and will provide notice of the Board and Committee meetings as required by the Bylaws. The Secretary will be a voting position on the Board and will have such other powers and perform such other duties as the Board may prescribe. Ideal qualifications for the position include professional experience on other boards as a secretary or similar position.  This position requires that the candidate be organized and reliable.  Candidates must have access to a computer and be able to work on the PHSSA email and document management system via the Google Mail System.
