Barking Dogs Complaints
From the Office of Fourth District Council Member Kathy Graziano;
Recently, we have been receiving complaints and questions from the Westover Hills neighborhood, especially that area west of WH Boulevard concerning constantly barking dogs.
I would like to remind all our residents that the city’s noise ordinance has the following language:
(It is a violation…) “
(2) To allow any animal or bird to create noise such that it is plainly audible at least once a minute for ten consecutive minutes (i) inside the confines of the dwelling unit, house or apartment of another or (ii) at 50 fifty or more from the animal or bird”.
I appreciate any help you can give me in spreading the word to neighbors who might not have considered how others feel about their dogs barking for long periods of time.

Thank you for this information. Barking dogs are a great crime deterrent but there is a tipping point where incessant barking becomes just “background noise” and no body pays attention (other than to be annoyed).
A dog that barks obsessively and incessantly is an unhappy dog. It may be that the dog needs more exercise to release energy and anxiety. To put your dog outside and let him bark non-stop is very irresponsible dog ownership and very inconsiderate social behavior.
With the weather cooling down and windows being opened at night. PLEASE monitor and manage your dog’s barking.
Who should we contact in this situation? We have tried filing complaints with the city and calling the non emergency line but no help!!! Any suggestions? The owners of the dog are not approachable, this isn’t an option
