James River News Hub Asks About Parking at the River
There is a new blog on the scene, written by Phil Riggan of Richmond on the James fame that covers the James River. Phil’s newest endeavor the James River News Hub has a singular focus.
James River News is a new website hub for all of the organizations that work, maintain and play at the James River from Bosher’s Dam to downtown Richmond. We try to catch as many stories, events and information as we can to post here.
This morning Phil is asking folks what they think of the parking situation along the James River Park System. The river had an estimated 650,000 visitors this year and if you headed to the river you know that parking is often an issue. Pony Pasture has volunteers that help out but Phil wants to know;
Are you happy with the current set up? Should there be more parking areas? High-occupancy rules on the weekends? More access points to the river? Should shuttle services be brought in to allow for parking at satellite lots? Post your comments here!
Good luck to Phil and if you spend any time on the river you should put this new blog into your reader or bookmark folder.
It is worth noting that there is another blog that is similarly titled. James River News is run by H&H resident tvnewsbadge. A fine blog in it’s own right and covers a good number of local events usually with much better photography than my own. Tvnewsbadge also strays from the local news to cover horse racing and other items that catch his fancy.

Opening the existing lots would be helpful. It’s just plain crazy that certain lots remain closed with this kind of volume of traffic.
Re-designing or configuring the lots might accommodate a few more cars, too.
