Changes to Blanchard’s Coffee Shop

Change is in the wind. Blanchard’s will no longer be managing the coffee shop at 5047 Forest Hill Avenue. Kelly of Chocolates by Kelly is working with Ben Spencer and Don Costello to take over the space and will be running the show after 9/11. Blanchard’s coffee will remain but changes will include expanded hours, more pastries, ice cream (eventually) and perhaps most exciting of all curbside delivery of your coffee. These changes will not take place over night. The shop will run it’s normal hours Tuesday – Saturday until 10/4. On 10/4 the new shop taZa Coffee ‘n Creme will open up with new hours 6:30am-6:00pm and be open Monday-Saturday. Since there will be some construction work going on between 9/11 & 10/4 there will be drip coffee and bags of ground or whole bean coffee available but no espresso. The reason for the change from an email from Blanchard’s.

As our wholesale business has grown over the years, we’ve been able to focus less and less on our retail space, and as I’m sure you remember, resorted to limiting the hours even further at the beginning of this year in order to cope with the increased demands of our wholesale clients.

When Ben Spencer came to us with an interest in revitalizing the coffee shop and turning it into something greater, along with a stronger partnership with Chocolates by Kelly, we were pleased to see that an outsider’s perspective is often exactly what is necessary to get the ball rolling.
