Patrick Henry School Starts Today
After a very long battle, the Patrick Henry school finally opens the doors to students. Please be aware of parents and children in the Woodland Heights neighborhood as they head to the temporary digs at Woodland Heights Baptist Church on 31st Street. This is the first day so I am sure traffic will be a bit of a mess. Also I wouldn’t be surprised if the local news is out in force.
Local News Coverage (I will add more as I find them)
- RVAnews has a great piece, that tells the entire story of PH by linking to past articles, many of which are on H&H.
- RTD article on opening day and the work ahead.

- Message from Kathy Graziano
Today I want to welcome the opening of the newest public school in the City of Richmond. Patrick Henry is opening due to the efforts of a group of parents and supporters who would simply not give up. They have persevered when everyone said their task was impossible, and they deserve our congratulations and thanks.
Patrick Henry is offering a unique opportunity to 150 students, chosen by open lottery from applicants around the city. Their plan to involve the community and the Forest Hill Park as a learning resource is a lesson for all of us looking to make a better future for our children and our city.
Thanks to all, and we look forward to great things.
Kathy Graziano
President, Richmond City Council
