Kollatz Jr. Enjoys Dogtown Dance

Missed Harry Kollatz Jr. of Richmond Magazine praising the Dogtown Dance production that that went down or I should say up last week.;

The program I saw last night was a pairing of the Von Howard Project (with dancers from New York City and Richmond) and a setting of Rope, choreographed by Petres. I first saw it done as a solo by Petres years ago, then at the Grace Street Theater with a trio of performers and undulating ropes that become dance partners and characters in this mesmerizing physical metaphor about entanglements and relationships. But last night’s presentation was a triumphal delight, the athleticism of the dancers, the sculptural lighting and the sense of disciplined whimsy all combining to produce a truly inspiring evening.
