More than 60 vendors, and more than a thousand shoppers, kicked off opening day at the South of the James Market at Forest Hill Park. A great neighborhood and community event, and many thanks to the Parks Department, which does so much to make this market successful. (Post your Farmers Market pictures here & here)

Nice pictures, but it didn’t look like many people there, almost nobody in the pictures.
Did the Derby, Nascar, Arts in the Park and VA Museum opening keep the crowd away do you think?
We were there before 8:00 and it was already hopping.
tvnewsbadge some of the pictures in the other Flickr account show quite the crowd. I also know that Blanchards broke a record for sales. They did more business than any other market day and they have been going since the first day.
My estimate is more than 1,500 at the market…from all over the area.
